Sri Srinivasa Temple is located at Sampige, Turuvekere Taluk, Tumkur district, Karnataka, 120 km from Bengaluru. The deity Lord Srinivasa, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu is worshipped here. This place was earlier known as Champakapuri Kshetram, due to the Champaka trees. This place was once ruled by King Sudhanva who is known to be a devotee of Lord Srinivasa. After his rule the place was under ruins. The idol of Lord Srinivasa was hidden in an anthill. Sage Narada, accompanied by the Angels and Gandharvas, used to worship the deity. After some time, Brahman Madhava and the villagers constructed a larger mantapa and erected an idol of Lord Srinivasa with Shanka, Chakra, Gadhadari and Sharanagathi Hastha.
